Batang Industrial Park Sustainability Concept

In 2019, UNIDO or United Nations Industrial Development Organization, the specialized agency of the United Nations with a unique mandate to promote and accelerate sustainable industrial and economic development, published a guideline titled “International Guidelines for Industrial Parks”, a comprehensive reference framework to guide the development of competitive, inclusive and sustainable parks.

Including in the given reference is the list of required basic on-site industrial park infrastructure and facilities, as well as some more “value added” and infrastructure and facilities. The list as cited from the Guidelines are shown in table below.

The list of infrastructure and facilities as quoted in the guideline emphasizes on how industrial parks or industrial estates should put its objectives by involving 3 aspects of sustainability principles; economy or industrial, environment and social, where these 3 aspects are applied within the development planning of the infrastructure and facilities in Batang Industrial Park.

Batang Industrial Park – BIP is the latest industrial estate project developed by PT Intiland Development, Tbk. adding to the industrial estate portfolio that is developed earlier in Ngoro, Mojokerto, East Java. Located in a hilly area of 500 hectares in Batang Regency, Central Java, Batang Industrial Park is established by utilizing the best practices using the extensive experience from developing and managing industrial estate as well as applying sustainability business; from the aspects economy, social and environment.

Covering the infrastructure and facilities within the industrial estate, Batang Industrial Park ensures that the planning and development refers to the sustainability principles best practices in align to the guideline from UNIDO.

Examples of the infrastructure principles that have be applied with the industrial area of Batang Industrial Park are;

  • Access; availability of direct access from Pantura Road with only a distance of 4 kilometres from Trans Java Toll Road;
  • Road; the width and quality of internal roads that can facilitate 40 feet container trucks Jalan; lebar dan kualitas jalan yang dapat memfasilitasi container 40 feet to drive over, as well as user friendly for pedestrians and bicycle users. ROW 40 for the main access road and ROW 26 for the main road within the industrial park, with class 1 road quality, paved using concrete paving block K 500;
  • Power – Electricity; availability of power supply from PLN with premium service, with dedicated line for the industrial park with large capacity; 2 x 60 MVA;
  • Clean water; availability of water that is sourced from directly from mountain spring with capacity of 200 liters / second;
  • Waste water treatment; centralized treatment plant with physical, chemical and biological treatment, separated between industrial and domestic waste, with capacity of 2,500 cubic per day.
  • Telecommunication and internet; available telecommunication and fiber optic line are available from a number of telecommunication operators.
  • Facilities; will soon be available commercial area for mini markets, banks, meeting rooms, and restaurants. There will also be guest houses for industrial tenants to stay for a temporary time.
  • Security; Batang Industrial Park is coordinating closely with the local police station and also involving near surrounding communities to ensure the safety of the estate from possibilities of security breach inside the park. The industrial park will also install an integrated smart CCTV system in strategic and at risk areas with centralized monitoring. For risk of fire, the industrial estate will post internal fire brigade.
  • Green Area; the existence of open green public space that is follows government regulation.
